By Rail

To Swan Hill: V-Line train and coach services run daily to the region.

To Echuca-Moama: V-Line train and coach services run daily to Echuca-Moama.

To Albury Wodonga: Albury Wodonga is situated on the major rail link between Melbourne and Sydney. Day and night express services run between the two capital cities with travel times from Sydney and Melbourne similar to driving.

By Road

Travelling by road to the Murray River Region is a 1 – 10 hour trip depending on which Murray River destination you choose to go to and from where you start.

Albury Wodonga

From Melbourne: Travel via the Hume/National Freeway (M31), along dual carriageways, to the picturesque city of Albury and Wodonga and start your legendary Murray River experience.

From Canberra or Sydney: Take the time to explore Australia’s colourful history along the Sydney Melbourne Heritage Drive to Albury, before continuing onto Melbourne.

Echuca Moama

The closest Murray River destination from Melbourne – only a leisurely 2.45 hours drive.

From Melbourne: Travel either via the Calder Freeway (M79) or the Hume Freeway (M31), then onto the Northern highway (B75) and explore the fascinating little townships along the way.

From Echuca, begin your Murray River journey either east through fun filled Yarrawonga Mulwala and Corowa or west to the scenic towns of Swan Hill and Mildura.

Swan Hill

From Melbourne: Travel along the Calder Freeway (M79) and follow the signs to Swan Hill and explore the many historic towns along the way.

Mildura

From Melbourne: Travel along the Calder Freeway (M79) all the way to the outback oasis of Mildura.

From Adelaide: Travel along the Sturt Highway (A20) through lush fertile wine regions and pastures to the outback oasis of Mildura.
